Description
A gingerbread man that spins as it falls? Your students will want to try it again! This Christmas STEM activity lets kindergarten, first, and second graders build a paper gingerbread man spinner and explore how its folds affect how it falls. Students color and cut out their gingerbread man, fold the tabs, attach a paperclip, and let it go. Then the testing begins!
Which folds help the gingerbread man spin best? Students make predictions, try different tab positions, and draw or write about what happens. Use the class prediction graph to compare students’ ideas before testing.
