Mrs. Martin is an elementary teacher, National Board Certified in 2003 in early childhood. She has two children, a son who is in 5th grade and a daughter in 7th grade. She has a husband she adores who owns a sign company called Sign-o-saurus of Daytona. She teaches primary grades and is happy to be teaching kindergarten this school year. Mrs. Martin believes that it is necessary to acknowledge visual, auditory and tactile learning styles when teaching students. She uses a balanced approach to teaching students. Her main goal is to inspire students to love learning by creating fun educational experiences. She said, “I want students to wake up excited wanting to come to school and learn!” She loves incorporating new technology in her classroom, sharing ideas, mentoring teachers and is a child advocate. Students in the past have fond memories of her Polar Express PJ Day, hot cocoa on cold mornings, making personality pigs, writing books, her photo albums she makes for each student, mixing liquid to make GAK, using candy for math, seeing her dressed up like The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly and Mrs. Frizzle from The Magic School Bus, trips to the Treasure Box for good behavior, transformations or her room into a movie theater and fun literacy center activities that still promote the rigor needed in today’s curriculum. She started blogging to help connect and inform the public of educational issues and resources. You can follow her on Twitter under the name Teachersbrain.
